MinNa LProc R&D Lab, or simply MinNa, is a research and development laboratory dedicated to the creation of advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools, technologies, and digital resources. Our mission is to document, preserve, and revitalize endangered languages, with an initial focus on Mansaka, Kagan, and Manobo in Mindanao.
MinNa is committed to intensifying R&D efforts in collecting, digitizing, storing, and disseminating language resources. We also develop specialized applications like Machine Translation and Dialogue Systems. Our goals include training and encouraging more NLP researchers in Mindanao, setting policy recommendations, and creating a technology roadmap to advance NLP studies.
MinNa Laboratory has been generously funded by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) with high-end equipment to enable Mindanao NLP researchers conduct research works. The University of the Immaculate Conception serves as the implementing agency to advance these research works to its complete implementation and deployment.
MinNa officially started its operations last December 8, 2021, after the blessing of the laboratory.
